As part of the state wide activities during “Threatened Species Week”, FOAL organised a Field Day at Adams Lead.
Approximately 60 attended. Speakers from The Office of Environment & Heritage and the CSIRO talked about the importance of Box Gum Grassy Woodlands. Mid Western Regional Council & Mudgee Local land Service Representatives, the Green Army participants, Gulgong Public School students, and local landholders found out how to identify these Endangered Ecological Communities. They heard how the diversity of vegetation is like a supermarket for the birds that frequent these woodlands.
During the walk and talk around the reserve participants had the opportunity to learn more about the ecology and latest regeneration practices. Members of Friends of Adams Lead shared their experiences and plans for the future.
Over morning tea and again during the BBQ lunch everyone had the opportunity to see the information displays and ask questions from the speakers.
A display put on by the students of Gulgong Public School of photographs taken at their visit to Adams Lead the previous Thursday was a highlight.
