A Busy Autumn

The Friends of Adams Lead Team were very busy and productive during the second half of Autumn.

  • 184 Grassy Box Gum Woodland plants and grasses were planted in the 2015 ecological burn site
  • A new water line was laid and a several taps installed across the reserve to facilitate plantings
  • Three new signs were put in
  • Weeding and watering were carried out

It was a great encouragement to the team to have new faces turn up to help us with the planting.

Over the next few months Friends of Adams Lead will be working with Rosemary to produce a Weed Management Plan document. Our members gathered with others committed to the preservation and restoration of Box Gum Grassy Woodlands for a Weed Management Workshop on Saturday 4th of June at Red Hill Environmental Education Centre, a delightful venue. Jacqui Stol, from CSIRO, shared with us the “Principles” that are the foundation of weed management. “The Process of Management Planning” was the theme of Rosemary Hadaway’s session. After a delicious lunch catered by Katie from Red Hill Environmental Education Centre Pat Rojas led us through interesting and challenging activities on “Determining weed management priorities” and lastly developing a six month “Action Plan” for our various sites.

At our working B’s, held on the first Saturday morning of each month, we will be putting into practice the Action Plan that our members developed at the workshop. If you are curious to know what is in the Action Plan why don’t you come along and join us at the reserve?
